Hi, I’m Dyann—founder of Grace & Grit Press.

Like many people, my life didn’t unfold the way I thought it would.

I grew up in church. I sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, married a Christian, and did all the right things. I believed my life would follow a familiar path—a kind of happily ever after.

It didn’t.

The day after my twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, I found myself sitting in an attorney’s office, beginning the process of divorce. It felt, in many ways, like everything had come undone. I carried a deep sense of failure, wondering how I hadn’t been able to hold it all together.

And yet… there was something else there too.

Relief.

No more games.
No more pretending.
No more trying to be someone I wasn’t.

Grace & Grit Press was conceived in that tension—born out of pain, but also out of a quiet determination to find something more. To believe that even here, something meaningful could still take shape.

Grit is what carried me through that season.
It’s the willingness to stay, to face what hurts, and to keep moving forward—imperfectly, but honestly.

Grace is what met me there.
Not as something I had to earn, but something that was already present.
A quiet realization that I didn’t have to be perfect to be loved.
That in God’s eyes, I was already enough.

Grace & Grit Press exists in that space—
where life doesn’t look the way we planned,
but something true and meaningful can still begin again.

 To create a space where stories gently explore the complexities of faith, pain, and belonging—offering a quiet reminder that even in the hardest places, we are not alone. 

 Grace & Grit Press exists to tell honest stories of characters wrestling with life and faith—holding space for those who have been hurt by people or churches to encounter, perhaps again, the steady and unconditional love of God.
